Is Flood all set to stay?
As mentioned in the previous post, a taxi drivers brother who hails from China (OK a bit more reliable than that!) has hinted to me that Willo Flood is looking all set to stay at Tannadice.
As reports and interviews with the media earlier in the week stated, money is not as important to Flood as playing first team football and having his family settled. He also likes working for Craig Levein. Good times.
As well as that, Flood may soon be representing his national team, with Ireland manager Giovanni Trappatoni set to fly to Scotland to scout a few players, which could be good news for the lad.
But with all the sudden interest and hype in Flood, how long will it be before he appears on the radar of a few, possibly bigger, clubs?
Just today media sources were reporting that Leeds were showing an interest although I am led to believe this is nothing more than paper talk. Besides, what can Leeds offer Willo that United can’t? As far as he has stated money is not a factor but there is no doubting they can offer him a higher wage than we can. Other than that, in staying with United there is a decent chance of silverware and possibly European football. Leeds cannot offer him that.
Is it possbile that the In Firm will start sniffing around? Wouldn’t come as a shock. I am in no doubt he could be a big player for either club and if not, well he could always warm the bench.
It’s also looking unlikely that Cardiff will want Flood back so for the time being, we are in pole position for his signature. Who knows what the next few days will bring, football is a funny game and the transfer windows are hectic. Lets just hope when Willos agent sits down next week with United staff, an agreement is reached.
I, for one, am confident.
